It was just after 5 pm on a Friday and even though we were promised a dry night, it had not stopped pouring down rain! AdBlue In Diesel

Well, what exactly is the trouble with having AdBlue in the diesel tank? Seeing as AdBlue is mostly deionised water, it is actually like putting water in to your tank. Diesel and water really do not mix whatsoever and trying to run a diesel car on water will never work. In addition to this, the urea is incredibly corrosive to your fuel system hoses and seals and is prone to crystallisation, blocking injectors and fuel filters.

If you find you poured AdBlue into the fuel tank empty it as soon as possible. And definitely don't start up the engine - not even to relocate it to a parking bay. In cases where you have started the car you would almost certainly need to have the whole fuel system flushed and fuel filters replaced.

Fuel contaminated with water

Water contaminated fuel, no matter whether it's petrol or diesel, is generally a serious issue to take care of in a motor vehicle - specifically in advanced common-rail engines. Having water in fuel will often produce idling problems, lumpy running, abnormal smoke and, if it's not remedied fully, potentially damaged injectors. Water in petrol is less difficult to remove as compared with water in diesel - largely due to the fact that diesel is an oil. Nevertheless we are able to take care of both situations pretty quickly.
