It was about 7 pm on a Saturday and though we were assured a rainless day, it had not stopped raining! Mark and I were seated talking about the weekend's sports, prepared for the seventh telephone call that day to come in. Eventually we had a phone call from a lovely woman on a business expedition who had pulled into the Tesco petrol station in Tetworth and filled the wrong fuel in her diesel MG hire car. She was rather agitated it seemed, telling me "I still can't believe that I've ruined the car! I am just so used to putting unleaded in my petrol vehicle that I had did not remember I was running a diesel!" I told her to calm down and not to fret, plus that these things regrettably often happen. She managed to maneuver the vehicle into a protected position and, as it was just a few miles off from where we were, we were able to arrive at the woman quickly. The contaminated fuel was removed and she could get back to the hotel she was residing at. Despite the fact that we got really wet, it was all worth it seeing her drive off contented and much less anxious. A fuel drain in Cambridgeshire done well in my books!

Wrong Fuel Doctor Tetworth - Tetworth Petrol in Diesel

I had appreciated a great day cycling during my off day and was feeling satisfied with myself the next day as I was en route to help a new family on holiday in Tetworth. They had broken down after filling the wrong fuel in their Honda, and were approximately an hour away. I emerged at their position and smirked as I listened to the gal berating her spouse for actually being so confused. "How could you conceivably be able to fill the vehicle up by using the wrong fuel?" she asked him. I attempted to tell her that this takes place everyday in Cambridgeshire and that it's in reality nothing to be concerned about, but he yet still had an ear bashing by his missus. Unlucky lad. Anyhow, I cleaned up and removed all of the contaminated fuel, flushed the motor and filled them up with the right fuel. Watching while they drove off I mouthed farewell and considered what her indoors would do to me if ever I made the exact same error... I'd never live it down!
