It was about seven pm on a Tuesday and although we were promised a dry and fresh afternoon, it had not stopped raining! Brian and I were relaxing there going over the tennis rankings, at the ready for the next telephone call of the day to arrive. Finally we received the call from a lady on a business trip who had gone to the Texaco filling garage in Emsworth and put petrol in a diesel Hyundai rental car by mistake. She was somewhat troubled by the sounds of it, stating "I still cannot believe I have destroyed the vehicle! I'm just so accustomed to filling up my petrol vehicle that I had didn't remember I was using a diesel!" We instructed her to calm down and not to worry, and that such things unfortunately can happen. She managed to move the vehicle into a secure area and, since it was just a few minutes away from the office, we could reach the lady quickly. The contaminated fuel was drained and she was able to return to the hotel she was lodging in. Despite the fact that we got fairly wet, it was all worthwhile to watch her drive home satisfied and a lot less concerned. Yet another fuel drain in Hampshire well done in my opinion!

Petrol in Diesel Emsworth - Emsworth Petrol in Diesel
I had enjoyed a wonderful evening hiking on the weekend and was feeling contented the next working day as I headed out to assist a young couple who were holidaying in Emsworth. They stopped after filling petrol in their Ford, and the car was approximately half an hour away. I got there at their position and smirked while I heard to the lady berating her husband for being so stupid. "How could you possibly be able to put the wrong fuel in the vehicle?" she said to him. I attempted to tell her that this kind of thing occurs regularly in Hampshire and that it's nothing to stress about, however he still got his ear bent by his missus. I felt genuine sympathy for the boy. In any case, I cleaned up and removed all the wrong fuel, gave the motor a flush and filled it up with the correct fuel. Watching as they drove off I shouted hasta la vista and considered what her indoors would do to me if I did the very same thing... I'd personally under no circumstances live it down!
