It was after seven pm on a Monday and though we were assured a rainless day, it had not ceased raining! Dan and I were relaxing there going over the sports rankings, waiting around for the sixth telephone call that day to come in. Eventually we received a call from a young lady on a company expedition who had arrived at the Tesco filling garage in Northampton and filled the wrong fuel in a diesel SEAT rental in error. She was somewhat affected apparently, saying "I simply cannot believe I have messed up the car! I'm just so accustomed to filling my petrol vehicle that I totally forgot that I was using a diesel!" I just instructed her to calm down and not to be concerned, plus that things like this unfortunately do happen. She was able to move the car to a secure position and, seeing that it was only a short distance off from the office, we were able to reach the customer fairly quickly. The incorrect fuel was drained so she was able to get back to the Premier Inn she was living in. Despite the fact we got really wet, it was all worthwhile seeing her drive home contented and not so apprehensive. One more misfuel correction in Northamptonshire well done in my books!

I appreciated a great evening cycling during my off day and felt cheerful the next working day as I set off to help a young couple who were on vacation in Northampton. They pulled over after adding petrol in their Citroen, and the car was close to half an hour away. I turned up at their car and smiled to myself as I heard to the wife chastising her man for actually being so silly. "Just how could you even find a way to fill up using the wrong fuel?" she told him. I tried to tell her that this occurs quite frequently in Northamptonshire and that it's really nothing at all to fret about, but he yet still had an earful by his wife. Poor chap. At any rate, I cleaned up and removed all the wrong fuel, flushed the fuel system and gave them some appropriate fuel. While watching them drive down the road I waved so long and considered what her indoors would say to me if I did the exact same thing... I'd personally never ever live it down!
